The Only 7 Players that Can Win the 2018–19 NBA MVP

It’s August.

The NBA season is and the NBA season feels so far away. All of the free agents are signed, Summer League is at the novels, and all we have got is the NBA program release and dreams of games to come.
But that does not mean we can not speak about next year’s MVP race. This season was a runaway win for James Harden, but the race between Russell and Harden Westbrook of 2017 was an all-timer, and next season’s race looks wide open.
What does it take to win NBA MVP? Three criteria stand out:
He’s got to score a lot. MVPs are always in the thick of their scoring race, although basketball is much more than just scoring.
He has to win a lot. NBA MVPs since 1990 average 63 wins, and they almost always play to get a seed. We often make it wrong As soon as we select on MVPs from groups. MVPs has to be winners.
He has to have a winning narrative.
That last point is most important of all. The NBA MVP ultimately tells the story of this season, and voters will need to buy in that story. Was something overcome by a candidate? Did he surprise everyone? Did he prove he’s really”precious,” whatever that means?
