Reclaim the City, Ndifuna Ukwazi, and other land and housing social movements, alongside concerned citizens, are driven to address Cape Town’s enduring housing crisis. This crisis, which disproportionately affects working-class black and coloured communities, has persisted for decades, rooted in the deep legacy of spatial apartheid that continues to shape our city.

We demand that Premier Alan Winde releases the Tafelberg site to the City of Cape Town for the development of urgently needed social housing. Since the advent of democracy, not a single affordable housing unit has been constructed in the inner city of Cape Town. This starkly highlights the City’s and Province’s failure to demonstrate any political will to address this issue.

Write a letter to Premier Alan Winde for the release and development of the Tafelberg site.
