Tat’ Jackson Ndungane speaks about his struggle for affordable housing in Sea Point. The struggle for housing on the Tafelberg site started in 2000 when they were promised housing on the site. Tat Ndungane rejoiced as this would be an opportunity to live with his family under one roof (Body Corporate Rules denied workers to live with their families). This realisation shortened when Helen Zille and her cabinet decided to sell the Tafelberg site in 2015. In 2020, the sale of Tafelberg was set aside by the Western Cape High Court. Tat Ndungane was hopeful that Tafelberg site would be released for social housing. The Western Cape Government’s feasibility study conveyed that social housing on Tafelberg site is possible.
