We mourn the loss of our trustee, Mr Alan Roberts who succumbed to COVID complications. Alan was a distinguished trade unionist, activist and freedom fighter during Apartheid. In 1994, Alan served as an advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs and subsequently worked as the Western Cape Land Claims Commissioner for three years. Following serving as an advisor to the Premier of the Western Cape, Alan consulted widely on industrial relations, community development, youth activism while serving on many boards.
In 2022, Alan joined the Ndifuna Ukwazi Board, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the field of political strategy, community organising and grassroots activism. He will be missed for his eager contributions to the organisation’s strategy, fierce passion and his hands-on approach. His memory will continue to inspire us in the tireless struggle for urban land justice and a dignified life for the urban poor and working class. Aluta continua.
Lala ngoxolo Alan, Qhawe lama qhawe.
